About

Dr Christopher Witham is a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Curtin University, whose work bridges fundamental cell biology with translational cancer research.

With a clinical background and a PhD in molecular cell biology, Dr Witham’s research explores the mechanisms that maintain cellular homeostasis and how these can be harnessed for therapeutic innovation. His early work revealed novel regulatory roles for the Sec61 translocon, a key protein transport complex in the endoplasmic reticulum, and advanced understanding of protein stability and degradation.

Building on this foundation, his current research focuses on targeted protein degradation (TPD), developing RNA-based therapies encoding ubiquitin variants to enhance CRBN-mediated PROTAC activity. His expertise spans biochemistry and cell biology, biomedical and clinical sciences, and cancer cell biology, driving discoveries that aim to improve treatment outcomes for cancer patients.
