Musculoskeletal health

Optimising movement, strength and function

The musculoskeletal system gives the body structure and enables movement. Good musculoskeletal health means muscles, bones, and joints work together effectively without pain or limitation. This supports everyday activities such as walking, lifting, and maintaining posture. Poor musculoskeletal health can cause pain and reduced mobility, affecting independence, work, and quality of life. It can also create a significant financial and societal burden.

Musculosketal health at Curtin MRI

Curtin MRI researchers work across a range of areas in musculoskeletal health, including pain, age-related muscle injury and repair, post-concussion symptoms, as well as developmental biology. The work spans discovery, clinical and translational research, and leverages exciting partnerships within Curtin and beyond, all with the ultimate aim of improving outcomes and quality of life for people living with a range of disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system.
