Dr Rob Steuart is the TEchnical Operations Manager at Curtin MRI. Dr Steurar was originally involved in teh plannind and design for Buidling 305 which is the main laboratoyr area for Curtin MRI. Wehn the laboratoires were open he toll on a techinacl support role and then became the facility manager which has since evolved into the technical operationsl Manager role.

Ultimately Dr Rob Steaurt wants to help faiclitate world class life sciences research that is undertaken in a safe and compliant manner.

Dr Steuart completed a Bachelor of Science with honours majoring in Molecular Genetics at Curtin and then undertook a PhD in Molecular Parasitology at Murdoch. My PhD looked at protein variation amongst strains of the gastrointestinal parasite Giardia duodenalis collected from human and cattle. He joined Curtin in 2009 supporting the molecular genetics teaching area. While in this role he took on management of a small research laboratory and was the main user representative for the planning and design of what are now the Curtin MRI laboratories. When the laboratories opened, Dr Steuart transitioned to a research support role, looking after mass spectrometry and protein analysis equipment and then took on the facility managers role. He is also the Chair of Curtin’s Institutional Biosafety Committee which oversees all work with genetically modified organisms undertaken at Curtin. Dr Stueart has continued to have an active involvement with research supervising both honours and PhD students.
