Dr Joanna Kelly

About

Dr Joanna Kelly, PhD, MSc is the Manager of the Tissue Culture Facility and Liquid Nitrogen Storage at Curtin Medical Research Institute, Curtin University. With an international academic and research background spanning Europe and Australia, Joanna brings extensive expertise in cell culture, genetics, and biomedical research support.

She completed a Master of Science in Biotechnology through a joint degree program between Wageningen University in the Netherlands and University of Warsaw in Poland. She then moved to the United Kingdom to undertake a PhD in Genetics at King's College London.

Following her doctoral studies, Joanna worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at University College London, where her research focused on genes involved in cell cycle regulation in breast cancer, in collaboration with European Molecular Biology Laboratory in Heidelberg, Germany.

At Curtin, Joanna is passionate about supporting cutting-edge medical research infrastructure and particularly enjoys sharing her knowledge and hands-on expertise in tissue culture with the next generation of medical scientists.
